Rider Dies after Crash with Pickup Truck on Airport Road in Redding
REDDING, CA (August 23, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Friday morning in Redding, authorities said.
The crash happened around 11:50 a.m. on southbound Airport Road at Charlanne Drive, near Jefferson State Diesel.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a motorcycle and a pickup truck collided, sending the rider down in the roadway. The motorcycle then caught fire as a result of the crash.
A bystander used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire and administered CPR on the rider. Sadly, the rider did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A coroner was later called to the scene to conduct a full report. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
The deadly crash closed both lanes of Airport Road for several hours while the investigation was being conducted.
