Fatal SUV and Motorcycle Collision near Cottonwood Avenue
HESPERIA, CA (September 9, 2018) – A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday evening following a hit-and-run crash on Main Street. The deceased victim’s identity and place of residence were not immediately released to the public, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place about 7:50 PM at the intersection of Cottonwood Avenue.
Personnel with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Hesperia Station and Fire Department responded to the scene to find an adult male in the roadway. The victim’s 2018 Harley Davidson was reportedly traveling east on Main Street when it collided with a white SUV that was exiting a driveway.
The vehicle fled the scene after the collision, leaving the injured man in the road. He suffered major injuries due to the impact of the crash. Despite life-saving efforts of the medics, the motorcyclist was proclaimed dead at the scene.
There is currently no description of the hit-and-run driver or the vehicle involved. Deputies with the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the scene to conduct the investigation into the collision.
