LANCASTER, CA (November 28, 2022) – Sunday morning, a motorcyclist died in a hit-and-run crash on Avenue I 13th Street West.
 
The incident happened at around 12:30 a.m. on Avenue I and 13th Street West.
 
According to reports, a motorist drove a BMW sedan east on Avenue I. Then, the driver made a left turn at 13th Street West into the path of a motorcyclist. Reports said that the rider was headed west on Avenue I.
 
“The driver of the BMW fled the scene on foot, but was later apprehended by deputies,” Sgt. Michael Politano revealed. “The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.”
 
Then, officers arrested the driver on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, felony hit and run, and DUI causing bodily injury.
 
Officers noted that the suspect left his car locked and deputies had to break out the car’s windows to make sure there was no one inside.
 
Then, they found the driver hiding in the bushes.
