25-Year-Old Man Dies in Motorcycle Collision near Balboa Boulevard
SYLMAR, CA (September 16, 2018) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on 5 Freeway, late Sunday morning. The victim was only described as a Hispanic male, approximately 25 years old.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place around 11:10 AM near Balboa Boulevard. As per reports, the victim’s motorcycle crashed into a BMW in the truck lane of the freeway. Due to the impact of the collision, the man was ejected from his bike and onto the road.
CHP officer Alex Rubio stated that the rider suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders. The identity of the victim was not immediately released to the public, pending notification of next of kin.
Caltrans issued a hard closure of the truck lane as officials performed an investigation and crews cleared the area. No further details have been disclosed to the public at this time, as the investigation continues.
