Biker Dies after 210 Freeway Crash with Car and Big Rig in Pasadena
PASADENA, CA (July 17, 2019) — A motorcyclist died in a 210 Freeway crash Tuesday afternoon.
The California Highway Patrol said they received reports about the crash at about 12:20 p.m. It occurred in the westbound lanes of the freeway just west of Hill Avenue.
An investigation showed that the motorcyclist was splitting lanes when the collision occurred. The bike went between the left lane and the carpool lane when it collided with a Volkswagen Beetle in the carpool lane. As a result, the rider got ejected and was subsequently struck by a westbound big rig.
The biker died at the scene. Officials did not immediately release his name.
The fatal crash prompted officials to issue a SigAlert. They temporarily closed all westbound lanes which backed up traffic to Santa Anita Avenue and eastbound traffic to Mountain Street. All lanes reopened at about 3:30 p.m.
Our heartfelt sympathies to the loved ones of the victim.
