Motorcycle Rider Injured after Collision near 16th Avenue
OAKLAND, CA (September 11, 2018) – A motorcyclist was injured in a truck accident on 880 Freeway, early Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 6:10 AM, just south of 16th Avenue. Reports showed that the first incident occurred when an SUV collided with the motorcycle, causing the SUV to overturn. The rider was able to got up, but was struck by a passing semi-truck a few moments later.
Medics responded to the scene to find the injured man in the road. He was transported to a local hospital, but there is no update on the injuries he sustained or his current medical condition.
No. 1 and 2 lanes of the highway were closed after the incident, as clearing operations and investigation took place. Officials continue to investigate in order to determine the cause and circumstances of the accident. No further details have been disclosed to the public at this time.
