Motorcyclist Injured in Portal Way Traffic Collision [Ferndale, WA]

Ferndale, WA (April 17, 2024) – A motorcycle rider was injured following a Portal Way traffic collision Sunday evening.

It was about 6:45 p.m. when the authorities responded to the traffic accident in the 6100 block area near eastbound New Kirk Road.

Investigators said a 2000 gray Mercury Sable was northbound on Portal Way waiting for a southbound motorcycle that slowed and turned into a nearby driveway. 

However, a second motorcycle, a 2005 black Harley Davidson XSTI, was following the turning motorcycle while the Mercury entered the intersection. As a result, the second motorcycle, crashed into the front left corner of the Mercury and the motorcycle rider was ejected.

The Mercury immediately stopped on the side of Portal Way.

The rider sustained serious leg injuries and had been transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center.

Trooper said there are no charges or citations given in this collision.
