Rider Injured, Oman Diaz-Uribe Arrested in Novato Hit-and-Run Crash
Novato, CA (September 19, 2020) – On Saturday, a motorcyclist was injured, and 47-year-old Oman Diaz-Uribe of Novato was arrested for the hit-and-run crash at Second Street and Hetherton Street.
The accident happened before 11 a.m. wherein Diaz-Uribe seriously hurt a motorcycle rider.
Moreover, authorities said the incident began when Diaz-Uribe was driving a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup eastbound in the third lane coming from the left lane.
He made an illegal and unsignaled right turn toward the freeway on-ramp. Inadvertently hitting the motorcycle rider in the fourth lane.
As a result, the motorcyclist lost control and ultimately slammed into a safety median. Then, the rider was thrown to the ground.
Immediately, the paramedics rushed the rider to the hospital with serious but non-fatal injuries.
Police said the suspect fled the scene before they arrived.
The authorities have not yet disclosed the name and the condition of the victim.
Meanwhile, police later located Diaz-Uribe in Sausalito and arrested him on Wednesday.
Authorities booked the suspect into Marin County Jail on allegations of hit-and-run resulting in injury or death, driving without a license, and making an improper turn an intersection.
