1 Hurt in Sonoma County Accident on Highway 1 near Bodega Bay
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (November 30, 2020) – Sunday afternoon, a motorcyclist suffered injuries in a vehicle crash on Highway 1 near Bodega Bay.
According to California Highway Patrol, authorities responded to the crash at around 12:58 p.m. Moreover, it happened on Highway 1, north of Bodega Bay.
Reports revealed that a northbound black Harley Davidson motorcycle crossed into the southbound lane. Then, it collided with a silver Mercedes Sprinter van, Monte Rio Fire Protection District Chief Steve Baxman said.
Thus, responders airlifted the motorcyclist to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Moreover, the rider sustained a facial laceration, head trauma, and a fractured wrist, California Highway Patrol Officer Eric Anderson said.
The incident blocked the southbound lane of Highway 1 for an hour. Meanwhile, the authorities later reopened at around 12:30 p.m.
When driving a motorcycle, it’s important to follow the posted speed limit and to yield to other drivers during uncertain driving situations.
We may not always know what other drivers are thinking. However, if we approach situations with care, we’ll have a likelier chance of averting a collision.
