1 Hospitalized after Placer County Motorcycle Accident on Highway 89
PLACER COUNTY, CA (July 2, 2019) – A motorcyclist sustained injuries in a collision on Highway 89 on June 29.
Authorities received a report of the collision around 2:50 p.m. on Highway 89, just south of Alpine Meadows Road, CHP Officer Pete Mann revealed. He added that for unknown reasons, the rider went into the oncoming traffic. He rode north on Highway 89 when he headed across the southbound lane. As a result, he collided with a Toyota Prius.
The rider sustained major injuries and a helicopter airlifted him to an area hospital. Meanwhile, the Toyota driver didn’t suffer any injury.
Investigators identified alcohol as a possible factor in the collision.
As a result, authorities closed the traffic in both directions. Officers administered a one-way traffic control in the roadway.
