MENIFEE, CA (December 1, 2022) – Last Tuesday, a motorcyclist died ten days after the crash on Bundy Canyon Road and Sunset Ave.
The incident happened last November 19 at 6:00 p.m. on Bundy Canyon Road and Sunset Ave.
According to reports, the rider traveled east on Bundy Canyon Road.
“The dirt bike was a non-street legal dirt bike, and among other things, it was not equipped with proper lighting,” Sgt. Matthew Bloch said.
Then, the rider slowed to turn onto Sunset Ave. However, a Chevrolet Volt approached behind him.
More Details on the Crash
“As the dirt bike began to slow … it was rear-ended by the Chevy, causing the rider to be ejected from his motorcycle,” Bloch said.
After the crash, the Chevy driver stopped and contacted 911.
When paramedics arrived, they rendered life-saving measures and transported the rider to a regional trauma center. However, after ten days, the victim succumbed to injuries.
“On behalf of the Menifee Police Department, we would like to extend our condolences to the decedent’s family and friends,” police Sgt. Matthew Bloch said.
Meanwhile, the authorities didn’t arrest the Chevy driver but the investigation is ongoing.
“Menifee PD would like to remind those riding non-street legal dirt bikes in Menifee to stay off of the roadway.” Bloch added, “We want off-road enthusiasts to enjoy riding their dirt bikes, but to do so in a safe and law-abiding manner.”
