Speeding Seen as Possible Cause of Deadly Sacramento Crash on 80 Freeway
SACRAMENTO, CA (July 2, 2019) — A motorcyclist died Monday in a crash on 80 Freeway near the Cap City Freeway.
The California Highway Patrol is still sorting through the witnesses’ statements. However, reports indicated that the motorcycle rider was speeding and weaving through westbound traffic before sideswiping a car. That triggered a chain-reaction crash just before 4:00 a.m. according to the investigators.
Officials closed four lanes of the 80 Freeway during the investigation and clearing operation. They reopened the roadways at about 8 a.m.
The CHP’s investigation of this crash on 80 Freeway is ongoing.
Our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the rider who died in the accident.
