1 Killed after Motorcycle Crashes with Pickup Truck in Descanso
DESCANSO, CA (March 20, 2019) – A motorcycle rider died after his bike collided with a pickup truck near Descanso Monday morning. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 4:25 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 79 and Olde Highway 80.
A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 25-year old man was stopped at a stop sign on southbound Highway 79, then made a left turn into the path of a Suzuki motorcycle that was westbound on Olde Highway 80. The 56-year-old motorcycle rider laid his bike down in an attempt to avoid the truck but was unsuccessful.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim was withheld by the authorities pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Silverado, whose name was also not released, stayed at the scene. Intoxication was not believed to be a factor in the collision which was investigated by the CHP.
