1 Killed in Oakland Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 580 near Lake Park Avenue
OAKLAND, CA (July 5, 2022) – Early Monday morning, a motorcyclist died in a traffic crash on Interstate 580 near Lake Park Avenue.
According to CHP Officer David Arias, the incident happened at around 1:00 a.m. Moreover, it occurred on Interstate 580, west of Lake Park Avenue overcrossing.
Reports revealed that an eastbound Dodge pickup struck a motorcycle as it stopped in the second lane with its light turned off. Then, the force of the crash ejected the motorcyclist into the roadway. Eventually, an oncoming SUV struck the motocyclist.
Moreover, responders pronounced the still unidentified motorcyclist dead at the scene.
Furthermore, the Dodge and SUV driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the authorities.
Also, the incident blocked all eastbound lanes of the interstate but has long since reopened.
Meanwhile, the fatal crash remains under investigation.
