Christopher Thompson Dies in Motorcycle Crash on I-5
San Diego, CA (July 7, 2020) – On Saturday, 28-year-old Christopher Thompson died in a multi-vehicle collision on the 5 Freeway.
The fatal crash happened at around 5:05 p.m., south of Via de la Valle.
A sedan traveling northbound on the 5 Freeway collided with a red pickup truck. Then, the truck driver drove onto the east side of the freeway shoulder.
Meanwhile, the sedan driver stopped his vehicle in order to approach the pickup driver.
Then, Mr. Thompson, riding a Suzuki motorcycle, drove towards the initial accident sight, and could not avoid the sedan.
Consequently, he was thrown from his motorcycle, and then struck by another vehicle, a Kia Forte.
Paramedics confirmed the victim dead at the scene due to the major injuries he sustained.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
We at Sweet Lawyers express our condolences to the bereaved of Christopher Thompson. May you find strength during this painful time.
What Can the Family of Christopher Thompson Do?
It is clear now more than ever that one person’s negligence can have devastating effects on other individuals. This is quite common in accidents that result in death. Therefore, it is crucial that the family of the victim becomes aware that they have the authority to file a wrongful death suit.
A wrongful death lawsuit gives the loved ones of a departed family member some semblance of justice.
“The aftermath of tragic accidents can make everything difficult for a family. The last thing most families want to deal with is piles of paperwork, questions from insurance companies or defense attorneys, and attempting to obtain police reports. Grieving and handling legal claims don’t exactly go hand in hand. Therefore, hiring an experienced attorney can offer you peace of mind that you have a fighter in your corner, as well as someone that’ll make sure your rights are respected, and justice is brought forth. Having legal representation after such a traumatic event will provide your family the space to heal, as we do right by your loved one,” says Mark Sweet, a seasoned attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
