[UPDATE] CHP Officer Joseph Heightman Injured in Escondido Motorcycle Accident
Escondido, CA (April 08, 2021) – On Tuesday, CHP officer Joseph Heightman was seriously injured in a crash on Via Rancho Parkway.
The accident happened at 12:45 p.m. near the Westfield North County shopping center.
The officer was riding to the east when a Nissan Rogue SUV driver pulled directly into his path from northbound Lomas Serenas Drive.
As a result, the officer was thrown from his motorcycle. Paramedics immediately took him to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for treatment of severe injuries.
In 2015, Heightman received the California’s Medal of Valor, the Special Service Award, which is a silver medal given to state employees for acts of heroism.
This is a reminder to be a defensive driver and follow the recommended speed limit.
