Toddler Sent to Hospital After Hit by Vehicle with Mom in Modesto
MODESTO, CA (July 11, 2019) – A one-year-old boy was hospitalized after a pedestrian accident on Tully Road Tuesday afternoon.
Modesto Police Sgt. Steve Hinkley said a vehicle struck a mother carrying a toddler on Tully Road. In addition, police stated the accident occurred at Mount Vernon Drive at about 3:30 p.m.
The mom and the boy were conscious and alert when first responders arrived at the scene. However, officials dispatched a helicopter to take the boy to an out-of-area hospital as a precautionary measure.
An investigation indicated that the vehicle traveled at about 25 mph as it turned left onto Tully Road. In addition, investigators confirmed that the 23-year-old mother was carrying her son in a crosswalk when they were hit by the vehicle.
Hinkley said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. However, information about who had the right of way was not available.
