Ralph Ellsworth White III Arrested after Crash on Highway 80 in Rodeo
Rodeo, CA (March 24, 2023) – Thursday night, a mother died, and her twin boys sustained injuries in a crash on Highway 80.
Subsequently, police arrested 20-year-old Ralph Ellsworth White III of Vallejo on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, possession of a stolen vehicle, and three counts of pursuit causing death or great bodily injury.
The fatal crash on Highway 80 in Rodeo happened around 7:27 p.m. on March 23.
Police said they received information from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office about a stolen 2021 Mazda SUV heading toward Hercules on eastbound Interstate Highway 80.
Moreover, the Mazda’s driver started to accelerate. The officer briefly pursued the Mazda until it slammed with a 2017 Nissan that was driving south on Willow Avenue in the city of Rodeo.
The driver of the Nissan, a 31-year-old mother of twin boys who were also in the vehicle, was killed in the collision and pronounced deceased at the scene.
EMS rushed the twins to a hospital in unknown condition.
Meanwhile, White, the Mazda’s driver, jumped out and started running northward toward Parker Avenue.
After establishing a perimeter, police quickly tracked down White at a neighboring booze store, where he was arrested.
