Mother and Daughter Injured after Cathedral City Pedestrian Crash on Ortega Road
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA (November 4, 2019) – A mother and daughter suffered injuries after a pedestrian crash on Ortega Road on Friday, November 1.
According to the Cathedral City Police Department, the accident happened at about 4:31 p.m. in the area of Cathedral Canyon Drive and Ortega Road.
Officers say a 68-year-old mother and her 14-year old daughter, both from Cathedral City, walked on a crosswalk with flashing warning lights when a vehicle struck them. Paramedic rushed both victims to a local hospital. The mother suffered serious injuries. The daughter had minor injuries.
According to the police, the identities of the two victims will not be released.
The driver, identified only as a 71-year-old Cathedral City resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. Officers said drugs and alcohol were not considered as contributing factors in the incident. However, the investigation about the crash is still ongoing.
Police did not disclose whether the driver was arrested. However, no additional information on the incident was available.
