Evening Three-Car Crash on Gilman Springs Road in Moreno Valley Kills 1 and Injures 7 Others
MORENO VALLEY, CA (April 14, 2019) – One person was killed and seven others were injured following a three-car crash Sunday evening in Moreno Valley.
The fatal crash happened around 7:18 p.m. at the intersection of Gilman Springs Road and Alessandro Boulevard.
According to the CHP, a white 2017 BMW 431i was traveling westbound and tried to pass a slower moving westbound vehicle in a stretch with double-yellow solid lines, when it collided head-on with a blue 1998 Ford Taurus that was heading eastbound.
The driver of the Taurus, a 47-year-old Hemet man, was killed in the crash. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
Arriving paramedics took the driver of the BMW and his 24-year-old passenger to Riverside University Health System with serious injuries.
Four other patients refused further treatment after they were evaluated at the scene.
A 46-year-old man from Montebello, who was driving behind the BMW, was struck by debris from the collision and was also hospitalized with minor injuries.
Alcohol and drugs were being ruled out as contributing factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
