29-Year-Old Whittier Woman Killed in Big Rig Accident on the 10 Freeway in Monterey Park
MONTEREY PARK, CA (January 8, 2018) – A woman traveling eastbound on the San Bernardino Freeway was involved in a fatal accident with a big rig, at 1:19 AM on Monday.
She was speeding down in her Mazda6 on the highway near the connector to Long Beach 710 Freeway, when her vehicle veered right, hitting the left side of the large truck.
Officer Fina Jojola, East Los Angeles’ California Highway Patrol representative, said that the Mazda hit the rear axel of the trailer, causing it to lose control. The vehicle then overturned onto its roof and slid across the lanes of the freeway onto the right shoulder, where it hit the guardrail and stopped.
The 31-year old female driver of the big rig was not injured in the crash.
Officials found the car, and pronounced the 29-year-old Whittier woman inside dead. Her identity has not yet been released as her family is being notified.
The CHP closed all the lanes of the eastbound 10 freeway for about an hour. Traffic was diverted to Eastern Avenue.
There is an ongoing investigation to find out further details of the fatal crash.
Our law firm would like to send sincere sympathies to the friends and family of the victim.
