Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Highway 101 in Montecito
MONTECITO, CA (March 23, 2019) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning in Montecito, authorities said.
The fatal crash happened just after 2:00 a.m. on southbound Highway 101 at San Ysidro Road.
Details of how the crash occurred were not immediately available, but responding officers located the pedestrian lying in the second lane of the highway with fatal injuries.
The responsible driver reportedly pulled over to the check the victim, but then fled the scene.
The Ventura CHP officers eventually stopped the driver.
The right slow lane of southbound Highway 101 was closed at San Ysidro Road and motorists were asked to expect some delays.
No identifying information is being released at this time.
