Early Morning Freeway Crash in Montebello Turns Deadly
MONTEBELLO, CA (December 8, 2018) – At least one person was killed following a two-car crash early Saturday morning in Montebello.
The crash happened around 12:45 a.m. on westbound 60 Freeway, just East of Greenwood Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a black sedan and a red sedan collided for unknown reasons. When officers arrived on the scene, one of the cars overturned while the other was blocking the third and fourth lanes. Both vehicles were reportedly blacked out.
At least one fatality was found as a result of the crash, but the identity of the victim was not immediately known.
Both cars were towed away from the wreckage.
All lanes were stopped until around 2:00 a.m. while officers and crews worked on the scene.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
