Driver Crashes into Telephone Pole on Scarface Road
YREKA, CA (June 19, 2020) – Thursday night, the authorities arrested Montana Hendricks after a hit-and-run crash on Scarface Road.
Just before 9:00 p.m., the authorities received a 911 report about a silver Ford Focus that struck a trash can and a telephone pole. The incident took place on Scarface Road near Cram Gulch Road. According to the witness, the male driver was under the influence and suffered injuries.
The CAL FIRE responded first before the CHP to treat the injured the driver. However, the CAL FIRE personnel informed the CHP dispatch that the driver attempted to escape by riding another car.
As the Yreka CHP Officers responded to the scene, an officer saw a speeding vehicle on Scarface Road near Old Highway 99. Then, the vehicle, a black Ford Fusion, swerved north onto Old Highway 99. It also failed to stop at the stop sign.
Afterward, the officer initiated a U-turn, and a traffic enforcement stop on the speeding vehicle for failure to stop at the stop sign.
“The officer quickly realized this vehicle was the same vehicle which fled the scene of the collision. Then, the now passenger was the injured male driver from the silver Ford Focus,” the police revealed. “The officer checked with CAL FIRE to confirm the description of the injured male driver. The driver who fled and the female driver who picked him up.”
After questioning the female driver, they determined that her passenger was the driver of the crashed vehicle. Hendricks also admitted that he drove under the influence when the crash occurred.
The Aftermath of the Yreka Auto Accident
The police arrested 55-year-old Montana Hendricks and took him to Fairchild Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
According to California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Shawn Gordon, Hendricks will face charges of driving under the influence and hit-and-run.
