30-Year-Old Mother of 4 Killed in Hit-and-Run Incident on Huntington Drive and Eastern Avenue
EL SERENO, CA (February 8, 2018) — A 30-year-old woman was killed on Wednesday morning by a hit-and-run driver while she was jogging just before 5 AM near Huntington Drive and Eastern Avenue.
According to Los Angeles Police Department, the suspect was driving a dark colored 2000-2005 Volkswagen Rabbit. LAPD believes the vehicle might have front end and windshield damage.
After the incident, LAPD motorcycle officers enforced the speed limit on the street where Monica Zuniga was killed. At least three motorcycle officers were seen setting up the speed trap on Huntington Drive. LAPD officials confirmed that he sting operation was implemented in response to Zuniga’s death and in order to prevent other similar accidents.
A GoFundMe page has been created in Monica’s honor. Zuniga leaves behind four children.
There is a $50,000 reward to anyone leading to the arrest of the hit-and-run driver. Contact authorities if you have any additional information on this fatal accident.
