1 Driver Dead after Crash on State Highway 121 in Grapevine

Grapevine, TX (April 18, 2024) – On Wednesday, 27-year-old Mohammad Ahmed Abdelraheem died in a crash on State Highway 121.

Grapevine police are issuing warnings to people about the dangers of driving while drowsy following a fatal crash earlier this week. 

They responded to an accident on State Highway 121 just before midnight on Tuesday. 

A work truck struck a tow truck driver from behind, ejecting him 30 feet away from his vehicle onto the roadway.

He later succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital on Wednesday. 

The driver of the work truck admitted to police that he had dozed off at the wheel and only awoke upon colliding with the tow truck. 

Fortunately, he sustained no injuries.

The Grapevine Police Department stated, “We want to remind everyone that extreme fatigue and drowsiness can impair a driver’s ability just as severely as intoxication. 

If you or someone you know is too tired to drive, we urge you to pull over or find an alternative mode of transportation.”

The investigation into this tragic incident is still underway, and no arrests have been made yet.
