Mohamed Ismail Killed in Bicycle Accident on Willow Glen Drive
El Cajon, CA [February 12, 2021) – On Wednesday, 32-year-old La Mesa man Mohamed Ismail lost his life in a tragic bicycle crash on Willow Glen Drive.
The fatal accident took place at about 7:20 p.m. west of Dehesa Road.
Apparently, the bicyclist was riding an Electra Townie bicycle eastbound.
At the same time, a 48-year-old El Cajon man was traveling eastbound in an Infiniti QX60 SUV at about 45 mph.
The Infiniti driver drifted to the right and hit the bicyclist from behind.
Consequently, the bicyclist was ejected onto the roadway, and died at the scene. Officers said he was not wearing a helmet during the accident.
Meanwhile, authorities withheld the deceased’s identity pending family notification.
The Infiniti driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the accident.
