25-Year-Old Issaquah Man Fatally Injured in DUI Head-on Collision on I-5 and I-90
SEATTLE, WA (March 11, 2018) – The man that was killed in a wrong-way accident on the eastbound 90 on Sunday morning around 3 AM, near downtown Seattle, has been identified.
According to the Washington State Patrol, 20-year-old Alexander Chung of Mercer Island man was traveling westbound on the eastbound lanes of the highway in a white 2018 Subaru, when he crashed head-on with a westbound tan 1998 Honda Accord on the ramp from southbound I-5.
Driver of the Honda was identified by police as 25-year-old Mohamed Alhethail of Issaquah man. He was critically injured in the accident and was pronounced dead on the scene. The wrong-way driver sustained injuries and was transported to the Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
The highway was blocked off for four and a half hours during investigation and cleanup of the wreckage. Chung was arrested on charges of vehicular homicide. Troopers say that alcohol is a factor in the fatal accident.
