Modesto Man Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 [Modesto, CA]

Modesto, CA (June 17, 2022) – On Thursday morning, a 38-year-old Modesto man lost his life in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99.

It was before 3 a.m. when the fatal incident took place south of Kansas Avenue.

Officers say the man was walking in the center median of the northbound freeway while a Nissan Murano was approaching in the fast lane. 

Then, the pedestrian suddenly walked directly into the path of the vehicle. 

As a result, the pedestrian died at the accident scene. The authorities withheld his identity pending notification of kin.

Moreover, the Nissan driver, also a 24-year-old Modesto resident did not sustain injuries from the accident.

Investigating officers say the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the accident took place. The officers are investigating if the pedestrian was under the influence of either drugs or alcohol when he walked into the traffic.
