Pedestrian Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident Near Noell Street
MISSION HILLS, CA (January 22, 2018) – A man using his cell-phone while crossing the street was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver on Hancock Street around 7:30 PM on Monday.
According to reports, two pedestrians were walking home from work on the 1800 block of Hancock Street near Noell Street, when a car that had just exited the southbound 5 freeway, struck one of them and continued driving.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital was life-threatening injuries including bleeding of the brain, facial injuries, and multiple lacerations. The second victim was not hit and spoke with police officer after the hit-and-run accident.
Traffic was blocked off from the southbound 5 freeway off-ramp to Washington Avenue for many hours while authorities investigated the scene of the crash.
The San Diego Police Department is looking for leads. There is no description of the hit-and-run driver, bur authorities say that the suspect vehicle is light-colored, possible an SUV, and has possible damage to the driver’s side headlight. It was last seen driving eastbound on Washington Ave.
