15-Year-Old Passenger Dies after Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 103 in Angelina County
Angelina County, TX (January 5, 2023) – Wednesday night, a 15-year-old passenger died, and the driver, 20-year-old Konnor Taylor sustained injuries in a crash on State Highway 103.
The fatal crash in Angelina County happened around 8:45 p.m. on January 4 at the intersection of Crain Road.
Texas Department of Public Safety said a 2004 Kenworth truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling north on Crain Road, while a 2009 Chevrolet pickup was traveling west on S.H. 103.
Reportedly, the truck tractor driver pulled from the intersection to travel east and failed to yield to the pickup when the pickup struck the semi-trailer.
The driver of the Kenworth, Terry Vaught, 37, of Longview, remains uninjured.
However, the Chevrolet driver, Taylor, was transported to Woodland Heights for treatment. His condition is unknown.
The minor passenger died at the crash scene.
Further investigation to determine the cause of the crash is ongoing.
