Minerva Icezagacruz Dies in Crash on State Route 243 near Mattawa Washington
Mattawa, WA (September 23, 2020 ) – Saturday night, a 30-year-old Minerva Icezagacruz of Grant County died, and a 24-year-old Sergio Garcia sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 243.
The incident happened at 8:30 pm on September 19. Dispatched officers located an SUV and a Semi on the scene.
According to reports, the SUV was approaching State Route 243 on Road 23 Southwest and failed to yield at the intersection’s stop sign and was struck by a semi.
The collision killed the passenger, Icezagacruz, at the scene. The SUV driver Garcia sustained unknown injuries and airlifted to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.
Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver, a 53-year-old Royal City man, remained uninjured.
Police closed the SR243, and detours were in place until 11:30 pm. Further investigation is ongoing.
