Two Elderly Women Hospitalized after Crash on 12 Freeway and Tucker Road
ETHEL, WA (February 16, 2018) – Two elderly women were injured and hospitalized after a two-car collision on US Highway 12 and Tucker Road.
On Friday morning around 11:32 AM, the Washington State Patrol reported a car crash on the 12 freeway near milepost 73. 91-year-old Mildred E. Wood from Ethel, was entering the eastbound lane from a driveway in a 1993 Dodge Dynasty.
She was struck by a Kia Sorento driven by 81-year-old Patricia M. Paxton from Pe Ell. Both women were injured and transported to the Providence Centralia Hospital. Wood was treated and released, while Paxton was listed in stable condition.
The WSP says the crash was caused by inattention, and Wood was sited on suspicion of entering an intersection obstructed by traffic. Drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors in the accident. Both cars were reported to be totaled.
When entering a highway, it is important to remain alert and aware behind the wheel. By checking your surroundings and remaining in the speed limit, the chances of an accident go down.
