Male Driver Injured in Maple Avenue Collision
Fresno, CA (December 13, 2022) – On Tuesday, the authorities arrested Mikio Garcia, 22, of Fresno, in a DUI crash on Clinton Avenue.
The authorities received the crash report at 12:40 a.m. in the area of Maple Avenue.
Officers say a southbound Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Mikio Garcia was traveling at a high rate of speed.
At the same time, a 58-year-old Fresno man was driving a northbound Honda Civic on Maple Avenue. The vehicle turned west on Clinton Avenue on a green light when the Dodge failed to stop for the red light.
As a result, the Dodge collided with the front of the Honda causing it to be thrown back approximately 200 feet.
The Honda driver sustained major injuries.
Mikio Garcia continued south, collided with a steel fence, then an apartment complex and caught fire. He self-extricated and tried to leave the crash scene on foot, but bystanders at the scene detained him.
CHP determined Mikio Garcia to be driving under the influence, and was arrested for felony DUI, causing injuries.
The paramedics rushed Mikio Garcia to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. He will be booked into the Fresno County Jail once the hospital releases him.
Never drink and drive.
