Modesto DUI Crash Kills 58-Year-Old Mike Vargas Sr
Modesto, CA (June 29, 2022) – On Sunday, Mike Vargas Sr, a 58-year-old Modesto man, sustained fatal injuries in an Escalon-Bellota Road motorcycle crash.
The fatal collision took place after 3 p.m. north of Gawne Road in San Joaquin County.
Vargas Sr was southbound on Escalon-Bellota Road when a northbound Tesla swerved into his lane.
As a result, the vehicles collided head-on. Escalon-Bellota Road was ejected from his motorcycle and died at the scene.
Investigating officers say drugs and alcohol were factors in the fatal crash. The paramedics treated the driver of the Tesla, a 35-year-old San Francisco man, for minor injuries. Then, they booked him into jail.
