El Paso Deadly Collision Results in Injury
El Paso, TX (July 7, 2023) – On July 5, Miguel Soto, 60, of Fort Hancock, and Hermes Balderrama, 39, were killed in a head-on collision on Interstate 10.
The fatal collision happened at around 2:47 a.m. near Sierra Blanca.
DPS said Miguel Soto was westbound in a Jeep Wrangler on the eastbound lanes of the freeway. At the same time, Hermes Balderrama was eastbound in a Ford F250 Pickup truck. The two vehicles collided head-on.
Investigating officers said Soto was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Unfortunately, both Soto and Balderrama were pronounced dead at the scene by Hudspeth Justice of the Peace.
A 41-year-old male passenger in the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital.
Officers are investigating.
