Miguel Rafael Detained in Mecca Car Accident
MECCA, CA(July 8, 2019) – An alleged drunken driver suffered injuries in a DUI car accident on Avenue 66 on July 5.
CHP officers received reports of a two-car crash at 5:37 a.m. on Avenue 66 just west of Highway 86.
The 1996 GMC Sonoma driver, Miguel Rafael, traveled east on Avenue 66. However, he failed to see a GMC Sierra stopped at a red light at Highway 86. As a result, the GMC rear-ended the pickup, CHP Officer Jacquelene Quintero said.
The Sonoma driver, 51-year-old Miguel Rafael, sustained major injuries. As a result, Ragael went to Desert Regional Medical Center. Quintero added that authorities held Rafael under arrest.
Meanwhile, the Sierra driver, a 67-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
