50-Year-Old Motorcyclist Fatally Injured in Collision on Henderson Avenue
CARUTHERS, CA (April 14, 2018) – A motorcyclist was fatally injured in an accident that took place on Marks Avenue, on Saturday evening. The victim was later identified as 50-year-old Miguel Jimenez Flores.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 8:00 PM at the intersection of Marks and Henderson Avenue. A 1993 Nissan was heading north on Marks, when he briefly stopped at the stop sign at the intersection.
However, the driver did not see a 2010 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by Flores, traveling west on Henderson.
The bike crashed into the Nissan, ejecting Flores from his motorcycle and onto the road. The impact being thrown caused critical injuries that eventually killed the rider. Nissan’s driver received minor injuries, but refused hospitalization.
The intersection was shut down for about an hour during investigation and removal of the vehicles. Investigators are not considering alcohol or drugs to be factors in the collision. No other information is available at this time.
We offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Miguel Jimenez Flores. May he rest in peace.
