Three People Injured in Four-Vehicle Collision on Rose Street and 9th Avenue
WALLA WALLA, WA (February 5, 2018) – A few injuries were reported after a multiple-vehicle crash on Monday night around 9:23 PM, on the intersection of Rose Street and 9th Avenue.
According to Walla Walla Police reports, 20-year-old Miguel Cortez of College Place was speeding westbound on Rose St, when he tried to change lanes between two other vehicles. He struck one of the cars around 9th Ave before rear-ending a Valley Transit vehicle. The car then lost control and went across the median, when he crashed into an eastbound vehicle.
Cortez was injured in the high-speed crash, and was flown to the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment; he is said to be in serious condition at this time. A female passenger in his car was also injured and transported to Providence St. Mary Medical in Walla Walla. The driver of the transit bus sustained minor injuries, and was not medically treated.
Roads were blocked as the wreckage was cleared and investigation took place. The Washington State Patrol was on site to help the Walla Walla Police Department with gathering evidence and conducting interviews.
No other information on the identities of the other victims has been released by officials as investigation continues.
