Police Investigate Fatal Crash on East Drexel Road in Tucson

Tucson, AZ (November 13, 2023) –  68-year-old Miguel Angel Machado Fuentes died after a crash on East Drexel Road.

On Friday, Nov. 3, around 2:19 p.m., a crash occurred at the intersection of East Drexel Road and South Nogales Highway, involving a black 2017 GMC Yukon and a white 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. 

According to the TPD, the driver of the southbound GMC Yukon attempted to make a left turn from Nogales Highway, heading east on Drexel Road, simultaneously with the northbound movement of the Chevrolet on Nogales Highway.

The driver of the GMC Yukon received a citation for “failure to yield when making a left turn at an intersection.” 

Emergency crews transported the man driving the Chevrolet to a hospital.

Subsequently, on Sunday, Tucson police learned that the driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 68-year-old Miguel Angel Machado Fuentes, had passed away. 

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.
