Michael Wheeler Hospitalized, Jacob Riverman Arrested in Seattle Car Crash
SEATTLE, WA (September 17, 2019) – A 65-year-old man sustained critical injuries in a wrong-way car crash on 5 Freeway on September 14.
The crash ended into a three-car pileup, according to the Washington State Patrol. Jacob W. Riverman struck Michael A. Wheeler’s blue Honda Fit northbound on 5 Freeway and then overturned off the roadway.
After that, a silver Ford Edge collided with the Honda. The two vehicles crashed into the freeway median barrier. The Ford driver did not suffer any injury. In addition, the Ford’s passenger, 24-year-old Desmond J. O’Brien of Portland, also did not suffer any injury. The Ford occupants both wore seatbelts during the crash.
However, Wheeler, who also wore a seatbelt, sustained injuries. Responders transported him to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in critical condition.
Riverman didn’t suffer injuries. After that, police arrested 22-year-old Riverman of Vancouver on suspicion of vehicular assault after driving the wrong-way on 5 Freeway north of Salmon Creek.
