Michael Tackett Killed in Crash on Interstate 40 [Winslow, AZ]

DPS Investigate Fatal Crash on Interstate 40 in Winslow

Winslow, AZ (March 31, 2022) – Early Tuesday morning, 39-year-old Michael Tackett of Farmington, New Mexico, died after being struck several times by vehicles on Interstate 40.

The fatal crash in Winslow happened on March 29. Authorities had received multiple calls from motorists about an object in the roadway, including from a semi-truck driver.

DPS said Tackett was standing in the middle of the interstate when he was hit.

it’s still unknown why Tackett was in the roadway at the time of the incident. Moreover, some of his clothing and sleeping bag were found nearby. 

Police identified him on Wednesday through fingerprints.

Further investigation to determine the circumstances of this crash is ongoing.
