La Paz County Sheriff’s Sergeant Dies after Head-On Crash on Interstate 10 in Quartzsite
Quartzsite, AZ (October 11, 2021) – On Monday, a La Paz County Sheriff’s sergeant Michael Rudd died in a head-on crash along Interstate 10.
The fatal head-on crash happened on October 11 near the Arizona-California border.
Reportedly, Rudd exited his car and struck head-on by a commercial motor vehicle along Interstate 10.
EMS rushed Rudd to a hospital in Blythe, California, but he later died from his injuries.
Quartzsite police, the La Paz County Sheriff’s Office, and the Arizona Department of Public Safety began the pursuit just after midnight Monday and it ended about 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of Quartzsite.
Subsequently, the pursuit suspect was taken into custody while the driver of the commercial motor vehicle stayed at the scene.
No further information is immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
