53-Year-Old Modesto Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle near Andrew Avenue
MODESTO, CA (September 6, 2018) – On Thursday evening, a man died in a pedestrian collision on Prescott Road, after he was struck by a vehicle. The deceased victim was later identified as 53-year-old Michael Maestas, a resident of Modesto.
According to reports, the accident took place around 8:30 PM near Andrew Avenue. 32-year-old Israel Velez was driving a Hyundai Sonata southbound on Prescott when he struck Maestas.
He was walking westbound between Andrew Avenue and Peach Drive, outside of a designated crosswalk, when he was hit. Emergency responders transported the injured pedestrian to a Modesto hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities were unable to immediately determine who was at fault in the incident.
No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
