31-Year-Old Michael Lockett Arrested in Vehicle Crash on North Broadway
Santa Maria, CA (January 22, 2021) – On Thursday, police arrested 31-year-old Michael Lockett of Grover Beach in a pursuit that ended in a vehicle crash on North Broadway.
Apparently, the Sheriff’s Office received reports of gunshots fired in the 2400 block of Oceano Street at about 7:30 A.M.
When they arrived at the scene, they located a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle leaving the area.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle, however, Lockett did not stop.
As a result, the officers started a chase that lasted about six minutes and reached speeds of more than 100 mph.
The chase ended on North Broadway and West Haring Avenue when Lockett crashed with another vehicle.
After the crash, police arrested him and charged him with several felony and misdemeanor charges. Similarly, he was charged with felony evading arrests and driving while under the influence of narcotics.
Additionally, authorities located a pellet gun in Lockett’s vehicle.
Luckily, no one was injured in the crash.
As of 4 p.m. Thursday, Lockett was awaiting medical clearance and yet to be booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail.
