1 Dead and 1 Injured in Multiple-Vehicle Collision near 73 Freeway
SANTA ANA, CA (July 14, 2018) – One man was killed and another person was injured in a motorcycle accident on the northbound 55 Freeway, on Saturday night. The deceased victim was identified by the Orange County Coroner’s Office as 40-year-old Michael Larocque of Costa Mesa.
The collision took place around 9:30 PM just north of the 73 Freeway and involved a Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Cruz, and a motorcycle. Events leading up to the collision are unavailable at this time.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find Larocque and his passenger in the middle of the freeway, with debris blocking the two left lanes. Both vehicles had rear-end damage, but details on the events leading up to the collision are unknown at this time.
Larocque and his unidentified passenger sustained critical injuries and were rushed to the Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 2:31 AM by medical professionals. There is no update on the current medical condition of the other person, and no other injuries have been reported at this time.
