Three Injured after Multi-Vehicle Pileup near Anderson Ranch Parkway

LOWER LAKE, CA (January 3, 2019) – A man was seriously injured Thursday afternoon following a four-vehicle crash near Anderson Ranch Parkway. The victim was later identified as 58-year-old Michael Koroma, a resident of Ukiah.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 1:00 PM. For unknown reasons, a 2006 Mitsubishi Montero stopped within the northbound No. 1 lane of Highway 53. The Mitsubishi driver, identified as Koroma, exited his vehicle.

A larger vehicle noticed the Montero and avoided the collision by abruptly swerving to the right. 24-year-old Kayla Farr was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion that was closely following the larger vehicle. Farr applied the brakes in an attempt to avoid rear-ending the stopped vehicle. However, her vehicle was hit by a 2009 Ford Focus driven by 48-year-old Tricia Snider.

A fourth vehicle, driven by 33-year-old Charleen Long, also failed to avoid the collision. The impact of the pileup pushed Farr’s vehicle, causing it to strike Koroma.

Due to Koroma’s major injuries, he was airlifted by REACH air ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Farr and Long suffered minor injuries, while Snider did not sustain injuries in the crash. Further updates on their current medical conditions were not immediately provided.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to be factors in this crash, which remains under investigation. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.

When driving, it is important to keep your distance from the vehicles ahead of you, especially when traveling at high speeds on the highway. Always pay attention to your surroundings for fellow motorists that are sharing the road. By obeying traffic rules and driving defensively, dangerous accidents can be prevented.
