Michael DeMasters Dead in Valley Springs Crash West of Highway 26
VALLEY SPRINGS, CA (February 23, 2021) – Sunday night, 24-year-old Michael DeMasters died in a motorcycle accident on Double Springs Road near Highway 26.
The head-on crash happened at about 4:04 p.m. when a 17-year-old Valley Springs resident drove a Chevrolet. He traveled east on Double Springs Road, near Highway 26.
Meanwhile, the motorcycle rider from Valley Springs entered the same righthand curve.
According to CHP, the 17-year-old driver traveled at a high speed as he drove across the solid double yellow lines. Then, he crashed with Michael DeMasters head-on.
The impact of the collision threw off the rider from his Kawaski bike. Authorities declared the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
On the other hand, responders took the teenager to Mark Twain Medical Center for minor injuries.
The authorities ruled out alcohol or drugs as a factor in the collision.
DeMasters was a California Fish & Game Warden, whose work area included Valley Springs and San Andreas.
