Modesto Man Michael Bradfute Dies in Semi Truck Rear-End Crash

 
Merced, CA (June 17, 2021) – On Wednesday, 52-year-old Robert Ondracek of Fresno was involved in Highway 99 big rig crash that killed 42-year-old Michael Bradfute.
 
The Merced semi-truck crash took place at about 10:40 p.m. south of V Street.
 
Officers said the Modesto man was driving a 2021 Mazda CX-5 northbound in the Number 1 lane approaching the rear of a tractor trailer driven by Ondracek.
 
Just then, the Mazda driver failed to slow to the traffic ahead and rear-ended the trailer.
 
As a result, Mr. Bradfute sustained fatal injuries in the accident. On the other hand, Ondracek did not suffer injuries in the accident.
 
Officers said Ondracek was driving a 2019 International tractor towing a trailer at about 10 mph. Apparently, There was a road construction north of Ondracek’s location which caused the Number 1 lane to merge into the Number 2 lane.
 
Meanwhile, it is still unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the fatal big rig accident.
