1 Dead in Bakersfield Traffic Crash on Chester Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 21, 2020) – Sunday night, 40-year-old Michael Hunley died in a hit-and-run accident on Chester Avenue.
The Bakersfield Police Department officers responded at the 1300 block of Chester Avenue. Upon their arrival, they located an adult that was hit by a southbound sedan that had traveled on Chester Avenue.
Furthermore, they revealed that the pedestrian probably pushed or rode the bicycle.
As a result, the pedestrian, identified as Mr. Hunley, succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, the authorities described the hit-and-run vehicle as a dark blue, older model sedan with major front end damage.
B.P.D. handles the crash investigation and they will look into the surveillance video in the area for further details.
Meanwhile, traffic investigators found out that speed played a role in the crash. However, the authorities haven’t confirmed whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the fatal accident.
Moreover, the Bakersfield Police revealed that this is the 20 fatal motor vehicle crash this year within their jurisdiction.
